Barium Oxybromide, BaBr.BaO.5H2O

By the interaction of barium bromide and hydroxide in solution a crystallised Barium oxybromide of composition BaBr2. BaO.5H2O, or 7H2O, is obtained. On heating to 120° C. in dry air, 2 molecules or 3 molecules of water remain. The compound is dissociated by water or alcohol, and decomposed by carbon dioxide.
