Barium Peroxide Pertitanate, BaO2.TiO3.5H2O

Barium Pertitanate, or Barium Peroxide Pertitanate, BaO2.TiO3.5H2O, is obtained by the action of sodium pertitanate, Na2O2.TiO3, on barium chloride. It forms a voluminous yellow precipitate which may be dried over sulphuric acid. Hydrogen peroxide is liberated from it by dilute sulphuric acid, indicating the presence of the barium peroxide structure, and with hydrochloric acid chlorine is evolved.
