Barium Subfluoride, BaF

When metallic sodium is heated with barium fluoride at 800°-1000° C., a double compound of sodium fluoride and barium subfluoride, NaF.BaF, is obtained as a crystalline mass. It decomposes water, but only slowly, owing to the formation of insoluble barium fluoride.
